9 Perfect Comebacks for When Someone Judges Your Relationship

Hey, they started it.

No one really knows what goes on in other people’s relationships. But few people will let a minor detail like that stop them from giving you their unsolicited opinions, because “they just want you to be happy.”

Having your relationship judged is uncomfortable and off-putting, and frankly, it can leave you at a loss for words…until now. So keep a few of these comebacks in your back pocket. The next time someone tries to tell you how to live your love life, you’ll be able to shut them down faster than they can wipe that smug look off of their faces.

1. "Well, no one’s perfect. But your boyfriend knows that."

2. "Every couple has the same problems, I guess: stress, communication, and judgmental friends."

3. "Maybe we can talk more about that over a big salad sometime. Please tell me you’re finally eating healthier."

4. "I don’t say anything about your man—even though he’s a cat."

5. "So, just to clarify, you think I’m an amazing and smart person who can’t be trusted to make her own decisions? Okay..."

6. "I am loving this new lipstick I got. Unless you think I should feel differently about it?"

7. "Sounds like you really know what makes the perfect guy. Maybe you should get out there and find him."

8. "He accepts me for who I am. I can’t say that for everyone in my life."

9. "I’d love to get more tips on how to be happy from you. Are you still spending all of your weekends binge-watching CSI?"

7 Telltale Signs That a Bachelor Relationship Is Ending

Are Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff headed for Splitsville?

Let's face it: The odds are stacked pretty high against each Bachelor and Bachelorette duo. In the history of the 13-year-old franchise, only four couples have actually made it down the aisle. Which means it's pretty easy to tell when things are on the rocks. With rumors swirling that the most recent love match made on ABC, Chris Soules and Whitney Bischoff, might be dunzo, we rounded up seven signs that foreshadow a Bachelor breakup on the horizon.

1. There's No Proposal
In Bachelor nation, this is red flag number one. The most recent culprit: Juan Pablo. Forget the ring—he couldn't even tell the last woman standing, Nikki Ferrell, that he loved her (red flag number two).

2. They're Not Moving To Be Closer Together
This is usually revealed at the After the Final Rose special. Bachelor couples will often say they're just going to do the long-distance thing—"take it slow" and "be normal"—for a while. In the real world, you'd probably want to move closer to your fiancĂ© or significant other, right?

3. The Ex-Bachelor Takes the Dancing With the Stars Bait
To be fair, most recent Bachelor Chris Soules is only the third Bachelor to have appeared on the reality show. But when Jake Pavelka accepted his spot, it intensified rumors that he was in it for the fame and fortune—not the right reasons. Soon after, he split with Vienna Girardi.

A photo posted by Chris Soules (@souleschris) on

4. They're a Little Too Lovey Dovey
Before Bachelorette Andi Dorfman and Josh Murray called it quits, their Instagram accounts were PDA overload. She was his #WCW and he was her #MCM—every single week. After they broke up, it became clear it was all for show (and they've since deleted their Instagram posts).

A photo posted by Andi Dorfman (@andi_dorfman) on

5. They've Become BFFs with the Paparazzi
When Bachelorette Emily Maynard and Jef Holm were rumored to be splitting up, they were photographed everywhere together. The most suspicious photo shoot? Kissing at the grocery store. Bachelor fans stopped buying into it when they finally announced their split three months later.

6. They're Seen Out with Other "Friends"
US Weekly caught Bachelor Ben Flajnik's canoodling with three other women–all in one weekend, and just before the final episode aired. During the live After the Final Rose special, Flajnik claimed all three women were just friends. Courtney Robertson stood by his side until about sixth months later when she ceremoniously returned her four-carat Neil Lane diamond.

7. The Wedding Date Is Still a Mystery
After getting engaged on the show in May 2009, Bachelorette Jillian Harris and Ed Swiderski seemed like they were ready to make it work. She moved into his one-bedroom condo in Chicago and the pair openly discussed a 2010 wedding—but never set a date. So when they parted ways in August 2010, it wasn’t a huge surprise.

Men Now Have a Legit Excuse for Why They ALWAYS Forget Your Anniversary

You might want to let it slide after all...

We all know the husband who forgets his wedding anniversary is a bad clichĂ©, but it may be true that guys just have a harder time remembering things. A new study published in JAMA Neurology found that memory generally starts declining for both sexes after age 30—and then plummets after age 40 for men.

RELATED: 7 Foods That Boost Your Memory

For the study, researchers looked at 1,246 men and women between the ages of 30 and 95. Study subjects were all cognitively healthy when selected and went through PET scans, MRI scans, and some memory testing protocols—all in the name of measuring the size of their brain's hippocampus, levels of peptides typically associated with Alzheimer's, and levels of learning and memory performance.

Over time, everyone's hippocampal volume progressively worsened, but it shrunk the most in men over the age of 60. And overall age-related memory decline was most dramatic in men, even before any kind of abnormal PET scan showed up.

RELATED: 3 Things That Are Hurting Your Memory…Right Now

Such differences between the sexes could be happening for a number of reasons, from simple developmental causes to hormone defenses (thanks, estrogen!) to lifestyle-related differences. Still, researchers have yet to dig deeper to discover the true reason behind the cognitive gap.

You might be tempted to scan your spouse's noggin to find out just what exactly is (and isn't) going on in there, but since you can't just submit him for research, try to realize that a memory lag may not be his fault. So don't get mad if (when?) he forgets the date you two tied the knot. Just leave him a little note to serve as a friendly reminder, and hope he remembers the gift.

Is It Normal to Have a Sex List?

One dude who's been keeping track of his past partners turns to an expert to find out.

I started my sex list when I was a sophomore in college. Until then, it had never occurred to me to keep a list written down somewhere. But when my soon-to-be girlfriend asked me how many sexual partners I’d had and I responded that I wasn’t exactly sure off the top of my head, she wasn't satisfied. More like mortified, actually. She immediately thought that my ignorance was a lie and that I was some sort of accomplished Lothario. (I wasn’t. Our stats were in the same ballpark.)

She demanded to know precisely how many women had come (or, more accurately, not come) before her, so I obliged. It was one of the more bizarre things I’ve done—making a list of former sexual partners to placate a current one—but we had a strange relationship. It didn’t work out. I don’t want to talk about it.

I kept the list going after we broke up, and right now it’s locked away in a folder in my Evernote documents titled “Taxes 2009.”

Why do I keep a sex list? For several reasons.

1. Nostalgia: Sometimes it’s nice to bust out the sex list and remember the good ole’ times. It feels nice to know that I won’t forget about any of the women who were kind enough to have sex with me.

2. Confidence boosts: Sometimes you can get a boost by looking back and being like, “Whoa! That girl actually slept with me! If I lose like 20 pounds, I can get right back into the dating game, probably!”

3. Analysis: It’s a way of helping me see how I’ve matured through the years and how I’ve learned what to do and not do both sexually and relationship-wise.

4. Safety: If I contract an STD, I might have to track down where I got it and let other partners know. (This is probably the best reason to keep a sex list, but for me it’s an afterthought. I’m not having sex with enough people within a short time span to not be able to name the past few, in order, on command.)

Like most everything I do regarding sex and relationships, I spend a decent amount of time wondering whether or not my practices are normal or common or damaging. (For example: my browser history is rife not only with porn, but also with articles and research about how much porn is too much porn.)

RELATED: Why That Guy Who’s So Into You Suddenly Goes MIA

So I hit up Christie Hartman, Ph.D., a Denver-based dating expert and behavioral scientist who has also written five dating advice books.

My hope was, as it always is when I speak with behavioral scientists, that Hartman would tell me that what I do is completely normal. She didn’t.

But when it comes to motive, she did make me feel normal—at least within the vacuum of fellow sex-list-keepers.

“It’s not all that common, but people do do it, and it’s also not that big a deal,” says Hartman. “It’s a way of chronicling your life a little bit, though it can be different for guys than it is for girls.”

I was interested in the difference between the sexes, though they’re pretty predictable if you think about it objectively:

“If a guy keeps a list, he’s doing it possibly as a way to feel good about himself to some extent,” says Hartman. “What guy doesn’t want to be able to convince a woman to sleep with him? It makes him feel good, like, ‘Yeah, I achieved something positive with women.’”

RELATED: Why Some Guys Send Unsolicited D*ck Pics

But with women, it’s not such an achievement, she says. Why? I’ll put it in layman’s terms for you: It’s generally easier for a woman to get laid than a man because guys are #thirstier (at least outwardly) than girls.

Hartman says that women might be motivated to keep a sex list not only to chronicle their sex and relationship lives, but to ensure they haven’t gone over whatever partner limit they’ve imposed on themselves—or that society has imposed upon them.

Both sexes also keep sex lists as a means to look back on life adventures.

Hartman says she sees nothing particularly wrong with doing so. “You only live once, and you’re only young once, so why not chronicle what you’re experiencing to look back on later?” she says. “It helps you remember your positive experiences—and the negative ones, too.”

I suppose it sort of helps establish a sexual best practices guide for yourself, which I’m sure we’d all be into having.

To end our conversation, I asked Hartman a question that would either allay my anxiety about being some sexual experience-documenting deviant or confirm it: Is there any psychologically or socially negative reason for a person to keep a sexual partners list?

“For the most part, no,” she says, a statement I greeted with a small fist-pump like the ones Tiger Woods uses when he lands a crucial putt. (I wonder what that dude’s sex ledger looks like!)

“The only exception would be if somehow the list is creating some kind of negative feeling for you as a guy, making you feel inadequate because you don’t think your list is long enough or colorful enough.”

And if it does?

“Throw the damn list away," says Hartman. "If it generates anything negative, it’s probably not good.”

One Travelin' Woman Tested 9 Celeb Skin-Care Tips—Here's What Happened

Seven products, two cross-country flights, one face

Recently, I traveled to Hawaii—and was so ready to leave my snow boots and parka behind in frigid New York City (there's only so many two-degree days one girl can take!). The only thing standing between me and my island getaway? Two 10-hour (ish) flights. Yikes. When I first booked my tickets, my initial thought was that I would finally be able to use all those travel beauty tips from celebs I'd mentally taken note of...okay, so that may not have been my first thought, but realizing I could totally justify spraying myself with rose water and loading my face up with rich moisturizer in the name of journalism was pretty up there.

Besides getting to pretend to be fancier than I really am, I was also curious to see if any of these fabulous-sounding skin-care tips would make me glow like somebody rich and famous. So I put them to the test. Read on for what worked, what didn't, and what might have freaked out my cab driver.

Flight One: 10 hours and 15 minutes

1. The celebrity: John Mayer (don't judge)

The tip: Apply Kiehl's Lip Balm #1 ($7, nordstrom.com) throughout the flight to keep lips protected from the dry, recycled air on the plane.

The result: My lips stay crack-free and moisturized the entire plane ride. Plus, every time I used the lip balm, I thought about what John (a.k.a. the recovering "ego addict") would look like in shiny lip balm.

2. The celebrity: Lauren Conrad

The tip: Load up on moisturizer after washing your face in the airplane bathroom. Hey, if the airplane bathroom is good enough for LC, it's good enough for me. I bust out my wipes and go to town with Garnier Moisture Rescue Gel Cream ($5.99, garnierusa.com), which I apply more of every two hours. Every. Two. Hours.

The result: Hello, thick, amazing moisturizer of my dreams. My skin sucks the lotion right up every time I apply it. Is it dry in here or something? Even though my complexion is normally oily, it doesn't make me a greaseball. In fact, my face feels really soft.

3. The celebrities: Lauren Conrad and Amber Valetta

The tip: Drink plenty of H2O on the plane to keep skin glowing instead of feeling dry and flaky. I bring 32 ounces onboard with me and ask for so many refills that I wouldn't be surprised if the flight attendants want to dump a bottle on my head.

The result: It's hard to say if staying hydrated is really impacting the way my skin looks, especially after using so much moisturizer, but my body feels surprisingly good after I get off the plane. And even though I drank an insane amount, I didn't have to pee as often as I expected to.

4. The celebrity: Kim Kardashian

The tip: Never fall asleep on the plane with makeup on. Three hours into the flight, I break every celeb skin-care tip that probably exists and drink a very dehydrating glass of red wine. Oh, well. #YOLO. Oh, and I get very, very sleepy. Before I conk out, I head to the bathroom and use one of my Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes ($5.99, yestocarrots.com).

The result: My face feels super clean and fresh, despite the fact that I'm on a crowded flight. Plus, I may have saved myself from post-plane breakouts to come. Boom.

Ugh I hate falling sleep with all of my make up on!

A photo posted by Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) on

5. The celebrity: Alessandra Ambrosio

The tip: Swipe on a brightening vitamin C serum to counteract skin dullness caused by the stale air on the plane. The Victoria’s Secret model told PopSugar.com that she throws on the serum before getting some beauty rest, and I follow suit with Body Shop Vitamin C Skin Boost ($28, thebodyshop.com).

The result: The serum goes on slick and helps mattify the shininess of my moisturizer. And despite the fact that I look exhausted when I step off the plane—because, um, I am—my face feels really good. The bags under my eyes haven't gone away (hey there, bags), but overall, my skin looks smooth and even a little dewy. Too bad my hair didn't react as well to the flight.

Flight Two: 8 hours and 45 minutes (Three days later)

6. The celebrity: Molly Sims

The tip: Pat facial oil onto skin to keep moisturized. In an interview with Glam.com, Molly Sims mentioned that she always packs one with her when she flies. To be honest, my face has been struggling since I got off the plane about 72 hours ago. Between the change in climate, using a lot of acne medication on pre-travel pimples, and direct sunlight exposure for the first time in months, my skin is a irritated and a bit dry with oil in my T-zone. After we take off, I head to the bathroom and rub some oil Indie Lee Squalane Facial Oil ($32, indielee.com) all over my face.

The result: It feels silky, and my skin absorbs it up right away. Sadly, my face still feels rough and dry almost immediately after I apply it, though. I think I’m going to need something a little more heavy-duty at this point.

7. The celebrity: Behati Prinsloo

The tip: Spritz a rose water on the face for added hydration and a nice pick-me-up. According to PopSugar.com, that’s what Mrs. Adam Levine did on her flight to this year’s Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in London. Right now, I'm concerned about the flakiness of my face, so I spray on Jurlique Rose Water Balancing Mist ($24, jurlique.com).

The result: And it's burning. So much burning. It lasts for about a minute. At least it smells good?

8. The celebrities: Lauren Conrad, Amber Valetta

The tip: Sleep with a hydrating face mask on. Since the first two products I tried on the flight somehow still weren’t cutting it, I decided to take Lauren and Amber’s advice about using moisturizer (which successfully worked for me on the first flight) to the extreme. What can I say? I like to live dangerously. I use Ultra Facial Overnight Hydrating Masque ($35, kiehls.com).

The result: The mask was insanely rich and made my face look shiny, but it felt refreshing after the combination of the previous two products set my face on fire. After wearing the mask for about six hours, my skin feels really hydrated and looks how it typically does when I wake up in my bed—as opposed to awaking from five hours of plane sleep. I don't even bother rinsing it off.

9. The celebrity: Ming Xi

The tip: Use a hydrating sheet mask after a long flight. The Victoria’s Secret model shared this genius post-airplane travel secret with PopSugar.com. After my plane lands in a snowstorm, I get in a cab headed to my office and break out my Hada Labo Tokyo Ultimate Anti-Aging Facial Mask ($13, ulta.com). I immediately realize that there is a lot of product on the mask. Without a towel or bathroom sink available, it's hard to work with. I put it on my face before I get a little worried that my cab driver might be terrified of me and kick me out (seriously, I look pretty creepy, right?). I keep it on for about two minutes before chickening out.

The result: Even though I didn’t keep it on for the 10 minutes suggested, the serum on the mask is really goopy and makes any remaining dry patches disappear. Plus, that tight, dry, I've-been-chilling-on-a-plane-for-an-entire-day feeling is completely gone. I decide to just use the mask as a wipe to reapply the serum to my face for the next hour.

Although I think getting more than five hours of sleep would have helped me look and feel even more fabulous, the two masks kept my face from looking like death when I got to the office. One my colleagues even called me "glowy." Score! Now if only there was a rejuvenating mask could use for my brain.

Are Your Favorite Shows Making You Gain Weight?

It's not just turning the TV on that impacts your waistline—what you watch affects the scale, too.

Sad movies can wreck more than your mascara. They can also do a number on your diet, according to research from the Cornell Food and Brand Lab.

Published in JAMA Internal Medicine, the researchers’ findings show that when 30 adults watched the tragedy Love Story in the lab, they ate an average of 28 percent more popcorn than they did when they watched the comedy Sweet Home Alabama. (FYI, Love Story is actually 10 minutes shorter than Sweet Home Alabama.) What’s more, when the researchers went dumpster diving in movie theaters across seven U.S. cities, they found that moviegoers who bought popcorn and watched the sad movie Solaris (99 minutes) ate an average of 55 percent more popcorn than those who watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding (96 minutes).

When it comes down to it, it’s really a case of emotional eating, says study co-author Aner Tal, Ph.D., a research associate in the Food and Brand Lab. “Distress in general increases eating.” It doesn’t matter if that’s over real-life tragedies or ones on the silver screen.

RELATED: 3 Ways to Stop Emotional Eating Before You Start

Sad shows aren’t the only ones that can trigger mindless munching. Previous research from the lab shows that the more action-packed the TV show you’re watching, the more likely you are to also binge on nearby snacks. That’s because fast-paced flicks are so distracting that you don’t realize how much food you’re throwing back. Meanwhile, in one study from Sweden’s Uppsala University, women ate 52 percent more food when they watched a “boring” televised art lecture compared to an “engaging” episode of a popular comedy show.

RELATED: 100 Things You Can Do Instead of Eating Mindlessly

Still, that doesn’t mean you have to nix sad, action-packed, or slow-moving shows, says lead study author Brian Wansink, Ph.D., author of Slim by Design: Mindless Eating Solutions for Everyday Life. When you watch one, just make sure your theater or couch setup is primed to help you hit your healthy eating goals. Serve yourself smaller portions of unhealthy foods like popcorn or candy, and if you’re at home, do it in the kitchen so you’ll have to get up and pause the show to get a refill, suggests Wansink. If you serve yourself healthy snacks like fruits and veggies, even better—that can help you get in your five-a-day. Of course, you could skip the screen-induced snacking altogether, and then you'll be free to watch your show or movie of choice without having to worry about unintentionally bingeing.

7 Wacky, WTF Ways People Have Found Love

Including...wait for it...SeaCaptainDate.com

You know all about online dating destinations like Match.com and eHarmony, but then there are the niche options—like GlutenFreeSingles.com—that you hear about from time to time. They beg the question: Does anyone really find lasting love on something like FarmersOnly.com or STDMatch.net, though? Oh, yes. These seven couples are living proof.

1. SeaCaptainDate.com
As a voiceover artist originally from Reading, Pennsylvania, Amanda Angelis was looking for adventure. So when she found SeaCaptainDate.Com, a site that connects people who work out at sea with people who share a love for the ocean, she decided to try it out. Amanda also really has a thing for guys with beards, so a scruffy tour-boat captain named Van Wagner caught her eye. And although he showed up clean-shaven to their first date, the couple's been together for more than a year.

2. TattooPassions.com
Five years ago, when Christine Villareal’s boyfriend dumped her because he claimed his family would never accept her tattoos, she went looking for someone who would love every detail about her and her ink. After Googling “tattoo dating site,” she quickly found TattooPassions.com—and Rob Villarreal, who had sleeves on each arm and some eye-catching tats across his chest that might as well have read marriage material. The couple tied the knot in Arizona in February 2013 and now have a six-month-old daughter named Autumn. Naturally, Christine commemorated her birth with a tattoo of her daughter's name and bear cubs.

3. GlutenFreeSingles.com
When Pia Stroebel went online looking for a gluten-free restaurant in November 2013, she accidentally stumbled onto glutenfreesingles.com and wound up finding a completely different kind of dish. Nearly two years after meeting Dale Graff online, Pia packed up her things in Connecticut and moved to live with Dale in Montana.

4. STDMatch.net
Julie, 28 who was diagnosed with genital herpes at 18, wanted someone who would accept and understand her situation—and she found that in Peter. When they found each other online in May 2014, Peter had only recently learned he had herpes. “It was always hard on me because I was concerned I would give it to somebody,” says Julie. Now, it's turned into a way to connect with someone.

5. FarmersOnly.com
Elizabeth and Artie Thompson connected on this niche dating site and quickly bonded about their love for agriculture and country living. (Elizabeth was raised on a dairy farm in Alabama, while Artie grew up on a corn and soybean farm in Ohio.) After finding one another in 2012, the two eloped last July. The two currently live outside of Boulder, Colorado, but are planning to move back to Elizabeth’s home state to grow soybeans and corn.

6. MillionaireMatch.com
Former charter flight attendant Dawn Van Gaalen was frustrated by the men she tried dating—so a friend suggested she check out MillionaireMatch.com "I didn't go on for money," she says. "I just wanted to be with someone more secure, mature, and established." She found all of the above in Darrell Nelson, an oil and gas product manufacturer and distributor. A year and a half later, Dawn and Darrell are still going strong and now share a palatial home in Canada.

7. BikerKiss.com
Kim Eaton was looking for organized motorcycle rides when she noticed an ad for bikerkiss.com. That led her to John, her now-husband. “After our first date, we both walked away knowing we’d get married," she says. They took their first motorcycle ride together on New Year’s Day 2013—it was through New Jersey—although the couple no longer rides (John’s been in two life-threatening accidents since the couple tied the knot). “If he never rides again, I don’t know if I will ride again," says Kim. "Motorcycles aren’t the love of my life—he is.”

Tougher laws a likely legacy of the Disneyland measles outbreak

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Chris Barr had no problem getting his eight children exempted from vaccinations when they went to school. First in California, and later when the family moved to Arkansas, the natural healing practitioner simply signed a piece of paper stating that his personal beliefs didn’t allow the immunizations.
